These two wall lamps do not shy away from attention but provide reference points for a room, domesticated installation lights that attract as much light as they provide.
The first is entitled ‘Edge’ – it’s an elided cube with panels lit in various bold colours. This is designed by Alessandro Mendini for Artemide.
The second set of lights come from design stable Flos – they’re a collection of small circular cups mounted with images lit from behind. They’re like the portholed windows of a ship and as much for looking through as for looking at. Lined up consecutively the lights appear as a group of prepatory art sketches in a dark gallery room, yet with the colours of a Chagall pastel.
